“Our design intent was to emulate a small Italian village,” explains the architect. “Because we had the luxury of an 18-acre site on a manmade lake, we decided to take full advantage of it.” Other Italian influences include a formal European garden and an authentic working vineyard circling the lake. Tuscan touches include timber headers on the exterior, exposed beams and rafter tails inside and out. There is a spacious kitchen with a brick barrel-vaulted ceiling. Like the European estates it emulates, the home pays great attention to detail and includes many fine features, including authentic grouting and varying ceiling heights and beams, all carefully planned to reinforce the home’s village-like ambiance. Interior highlights include a large, heart-of-the-home kitchen, a formal dining room, a large living room with a beamed ceiling, and an adjacent screened-in porch. Nearby is an exercise room and large master suite with his-and-hers closets and a covered terrace designed for private getaways. A spacious lower level includes a billiards area, home theater, hearth room with fireplace, and two additional bedroom suites.
