The Visbeen Architects Design Process
“Well, we both looked at each other 5 minutes in the meeting. We're like, ‘Okay, we can go.’ We said, there is no reason to take any more appointments because once you sit with Wayne, nothing else is going to compare.
It just came to life.
“Wayne Visbeen was able to take my initial thought and then take that and just expand on it to what we have here today.”
When someone can sketch the level that he can, but now all of a sudden you're bringing the stuff much more to life. And I was like, "Yeah, this is really the dude I'm working with." It was like an immediate recognition that yes, that's it. When can we get started?
Before really we did a lot of sketching. We had dialogue about, "Hey, what what are we thinking? What do we here? Here's the space we have to work with. What do you like?" So, he was good at asking questions.
He really was interested in how our family operates and how we live and how we go about our day and what our routines are, crafting kind of a solution around that. You could tell him kind of what you were thinking and he'd kind of just quick sketch that out so you could see it. Then I would say, "Oh, you know, maybe I want a little more of this." And he just kept sketching and sketching and sketching and it just came to life.
Simple things in in cabinetry, right? Where it's like, "Okay, here's dead space. Let's pull Let's have a pull out drawer here." Or, “Let's have a place for your belts that you can roll up.” Well, I've always just hung a belt on a hook. You know, well, not in this house you're not going to."
Never have we sat with an architect that on your very first meeting drew the floor plan and then what the house could look like in 3D right in front of you. We're kind of blown away from it because we come from a building background with my family and stuff and and having somebody that instantly gets your vision, it's just it was amazing to watch.
Everything from the initial design all the way through move in, there was involvement.
It wasn't just here you go, now go work with your builder, figure it out, go work with someone else to help you furnish it. It really was a process.
We've dealt with Rhyse, and he's been amazing, too. He could take our ideas and tweak things really fast. Yeah, he's been great to work with on the digital plan.
I loved working with Julie. She was awesome. I thought she really got a good sense of our style, because I'm not a super contemporary person. So, she gave a lot of input there. And also being conscious of a budget because, you know, you can get what you want out there, but kind of finding things with value, I think she did a really good job with that.
The contractor said he's really had never had a set of plans with this complexity with almost zero on-site adjustments—because if there were, it would have been very difficult with a house like this.
The the plans were just literally spectacular.
Brenda said, you know, before like meeting with the other architects, “How can't we go with Visbeen? Due to the amazing design, the amazing ideas, and the fact that your home's just going to be incredible when you're done.”
“That feeling of joy and contentment to kind of be in your home and not only your own home, but this beautiful new expression of the home. That was a really a a fun time for us.”
For it to transform into something that's just magnificent and warm, and everybody who comes here, they're just taken back. You know, I challenged Wayne out of the box: “I want this to be, you know, one of the best things you've ever done.” Well, I guess you can ask him, but came out amazing.
The foresight that he has, the experience he has, and the and the team he's assembled, you're going to walk in that home and you're going to be like, yep, this is what we wanted. It's a long process, but then once you know, getting in here just with the view and just having the space, we wouldn't trade it for anything.
