Wayne Visbeen, President • AIA, IIDA
Wayne Visbeen, AIA, IIDA, principal and founder of Visbeen Architects Inc., has the creative vision and technical skill to bring his clients’ dreams from an initial design to an architectural reality.
As a licensed architect and registered interior designer Visbeen not only designs residential and commercial projects that are both visually stunning and functionally efficient, but constantly strives for creative solutions that make every plan unique and better. In all projects, Visbeen takes into account how the interior layout impacts the overall architecture, such as how furnishings and livability affect the placement of windows, structures, and traffic flow to ultimately create a cohesive architectural plan that exceeds the expectations of clients.
Wayne was drawn to the field of architecture from a young age and attributes his passion for the industry to being surrounded by creativity and construction his whole life. His grandfather, a self-taught architect and builder, spent time building high-end residential projects and as a commercial contractor; and his father owned a construction company in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
After spending much of his life on construction sites, Visbeen went on to study architecture at Lawrence Technological University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, and a Master of Architecture degree. He spent time as a senior designer at the Taubman Companies designing more than 100 national prototypes for leading retailers across the nation before launching his own firm specializing in residential and commercial projects in June of 1992.
Visbeen works directly with clients to brainstorm and create projects that are unique and appropriate. His live design approach allows him to capture input in real-time as he sketches the conceptual plans that are tailored to their needs and saves tremendous time and energy for all.
Since the establishment of Visbeen Architects, the firm has received hundreds of national awards, including dozens of Best in American Living Awards and more than 100 American Residential Design Awards. The firm has completed projects throughout the nation, worked in more than 20 countries, and continues to expand internationally as it facilitates partnerships in India. Visbeen Architects has also partnered with a number of Canadian-based companies, including: Charmed Playhouses, Phantom Screens, and Napoleon Fireplaces.
Visbeen is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the International Interior Design Association, and the American Institute of Building Designers. He currently lives in East Grand Rapids, loves travel, and is inspired by architecture, interior design, and everything around him.
